Christmas Cookie Coffee House

Come out this Friday for our Christmas Cookie Coffee House (CCCH) (aka Music and Stuff). You'll have the opportunity to drink some hot wintery Christmas-like beverages, play some games, listen to some Christmas music, decorate some cookies, and have some serious discussion.
We will be spending the evening in the Christmas Cookie Coffee House (aka the portable). We'll be starting at 7:30 and finishing at 11:00. Come prepared to fill your minds, and your stomachs.
Also there are two awesome upcoming events that you should know about. Next week will be our Formal Christmas Banquet (B-rad has a better name for this event) It's at the church and begins at 7pm. You need to see Brad about getting a ticket. The tickets are $5. It's so cheap because it's also a potluck. Which means that you need to see Rachel G and let her know what you'll bring.
Then from Jan. 4-6 you have a chance to go up to Camp Crossroads for our winter retreat. This weekend will feature great food, lot's of winter fun, and a really awesome speaker. We're thinking it's going to cost about $45 but we'll let you know on Friday. It may be more or less. For this all you gotta do is give us the dough and get a parent to sign something saying you're can to come. See ya Friday!

KKKKKK night

Also known as 6K night, this Friday will be a night of suprise and adventure as we experience all things K. Some of you have heard rumours as to what the K's might imply, but for now we will leave it to guesses and speculation. If you feel the need to bring an extra game or activity for the evening, feel free, as long as it is: a. fun, and b. begins with 'K'

SOooooo.....see you Friday. And don't forget to keep Sunday open (everyone's welcome to come to church, and spend the afternoon hanging out, cleaning up a yard, eating food and having fun....details will follow).

Wait!

Ok Guatemala people...it turns out that we don't need to many people there on thursday. Just a few would be fine. So if it really doesn't work for you then you don't have to come. But you better be there Sunday. So if you want and can then come thursday. But if you've got to study then it's ok.

'Run of the Mill' Table Tennis Tournament (TTT)

This is Forest Gump, he likes to play table tennis. If he wasn't a fictional character he would be invited to this week's youth event where we are going to have a TTT.

We will meet at the church at 7:30 and begin an evening of table tennis Battle Royale Style and after a Champion is crowned we will go to Jason's house at 29 Grange Cr. and rides can be arranged to pick you up from there at 11:00.

A Big Week!

Ok folks. Here's the deal! And this deal is especially for those going to Guatemala, and especially for those who are not going too!

This thursday meet @ the church @ 7:30pm to help make the speghetti sauce, and organize other things for the fundraiser on Sunday. You can also begin to dream about what kind of delectable pies your going to create. Feel free to drop of sample pies @ 962 Line 8.

Don't forget that those pies are for this Sunday and they better be fresh...like the words of the hit song, "oh baby gimme some pumpkin pie, and a pumpkin, and a banana cream too, how 'bout this Sunday". I love that song!

see ya thursday!

Rake 'n' Run

As you may have noticed, the wind has been alive and well in the Virgil area, which means there are still leaves being blown across lawns everywhere. Your mission should you choose to accept it: We will be meeting at the church at 7:30 and then scattering around Virgil to help our community clean up their lawns. In other words we will be raking and then running to the next house. If you happen to have an old rake lying around, just waiting to be put to use, make sure you bring it so we can maximize the raking action.

We will be going to Brad's house afterward, so have your rides pick you up at 11:00 at 282 Niven Road. Don't forget to dress for the weather! Hey, if this girl can do it, so can we! Don't miss the hayride pics BELOW!!

Guatemala

Hi there...those that are planning to go to Guatemala. If you're under 18 you need to get a spot on your form signed by a Notary Public. What you need to do is go to the NOTL town hall and get the "Chancellor" to sign that spot. Before you go phone 468-3266 and ask if the chancellor is in. Then you can go get it done. I know it's a pain but Guatemala requires you have this done.

Also, if you are planning to go and haven't given me any money yet, please do so. Or at least email me and let me know you're coming for sure. briananderinrowaan@yahoo.ca

Steph, I've got a form for you and will put it in your mailbox @ church.

Word out!

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Real Life Shopping Spree

Well, as you can see, Friday night will be a 'real-life' version of our favourite childhood game, 'Shopping Spree'. In support of this years Operation Christmas Child, we will be testing our skills at shopping. Winners will be those who are the most cunning, creative, and frugile in their shopping experise. We ask that you bring $2.00 (ie. a twoonie) to help out with the costs of creating boxes for children overseas recieving the Christmas shoeboxes.

Get your game on....and as always during a game of shopping spree, the question is....'who will complete their shopping first? Be sure to use your money wisely!'

We will be going somewhere afterwards, however, it is still a mystery, so that info will be posted as soon as possible. See you Friday and don't forget your two dollars (ie. a twoonie).
ps. the box says for ages 4 and up, so if this doesn't apply to you, you are unfortunately out of luck. :(

Youth Canoe Trip

As previously mentioned, we are planning a youth canoe trip this year. We will be heading to Algonquin park on Labour Day weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) Aug 31-Sept. 2. We are able to take up to 16 people with us on this trip, first come first serve.

For those of you who don't know exactly what a canoe trip involves, read the following.

We will all set of with 2 people in a canoe. We spend a few hours each day canoeing across the lakes. We will also be "portaging" (walking with our canoes and our backpacks of stuff) between lakes. Each night we are there we will be camping in a different spot. There will be lots of time for swimming, perhaps some fishing, campfires and some good eating. It's a lot of fun and a great way to take a holiday before school starts again.

In order to book canoes and camp sites we need to know as soon as possible if you are planning to come. Please let us know NO LATER than AUGUST 17th if you would like to come. You can call (905) 262-1859, email (briananderinrowaan@yahoo.ca), talk to us at church/youth, facebook us or reply to this post. The sooner you can let us know, the better.

Just a reminder that there will be no youth this week. Stay tuned for details on next week!
